Each diode lives in a channel, not clipped to a gutter. The channel is the reason the system looks like nothing in daylight, and it is also what controls the direction of the light. Color matching is not an upgrade, and it is why the daytime look holds.
The control question
The lights are individually controllable, which is what makes patterns possible. That is the difference between one flat color and a display that can move. The upside of never taking it down has a matching requirement: it has to be installed well the first time. A system put up carefully does its job quietly for a long time. A sloppy install is a daytime problem forever. That is why the crew matters as much as the product.
Weather is what the hardware is up against
Nothing about a permanent system is easy on the equipment. Sun and heat do the slow damage. Humidity is constant here, which is why connections and seals matter. Which is why the quality argument is about the joints and the housing, not the light itself.
Dimming
These systems dim, which is worth knowing before you decide anything. Full brightness is for December, and it is far more light than an ordinary evening wants. The everyday level ends up low, and that is what runs most nights.
